So I have been avoiding my Safari version 4 lately for a kind of dumb reason. Although this reason is kind of simple! What is it? Well I am very lazy and I hate retyping all my passwords when logging in and out of my sites.

That is what I have 1Password for! 1Password is a really awesome and speedy tool that can be used for Macs to login to your most commonly used sites without using the “remember password” function that is built into your web browsers.

Anyways my 1Password button was not showing in my Safari 4 and I could not figure out why, so I just avoided using it at all costs. Here is how to make 1Password show up in your Safari browser again.

1. Check for updates to your version of 1Password : open 1Password : click 1Password>check for updates
2. You can customize your toolbar for your Safari browser: open 1Password : view>customize toolbar> (drag the 1P icon to your toolbar)
3. In my case I had to quit Safari app. (Make sure that 1Password has been stopped) open Finder: go to apps > right click on 1Password > get info> select open in 32 bit mode.

If Step 3 does not work you should review step #2 again!

Have Fun!

This is a great tip for iPhone 3G and 3Gs owners out there! This is how you can use your iPhone to get internet connection on the go! You may also use this little trick at your house if you do not have internet accessibility for some reason.

Anywho? lets get starting! I learned how to do this from a cool youtube video.

Steps include a download that you have to visit on your iPhone. Which will install a mobile configuration file. Basically what this means is that your’e using the internet connection from your iPhone ‘FREE’ as a modem for your computer (desktop or laptop).

Charges from your carrier will apply. I also beilieve that tethering is not available right now for a reason!! so until then, lets just assume that you are not supposed to use tethering for your iPhone. Be warned that you may use this at your own risk.

So please check and see what your carrier plan is, so that you don’t get stuck with a butt load of user charges.

With your Phone go to this website, to download the Mobileconfig file http://help.benm.at/help.php
When you get to this page just click the Mobileconfigs downloads button:

After you download the Mobileconfig file, the site will ask you where you live by country. Simply choose the country of your choice!

I chose USA, but choose whichever country you live in. Provided that it is an available choice from the list on the website. Once you do that you will see this screen!

Choose the carriers that are available. Right now only two are available ( At&t and T-Mobile)

Once you have installed the file. Go to Settings>General>Network>
Notice: that you have a new network settings named Internet Tethering

For Mac Users you have to setup a new network view the video below. First connect your iPhone 3G or 3Gs to your computer. Also for Windows users I noticed that you can just enable the Internet Tethering by going to Settings>General>Networks>Internet Tethering ON . When you do this, the system will ask you if you want to connect via USB or Bluetooth. I normally choose USB because my iPhone is connected to my machine by USB cord.

I have a Mac and PC so watch this vid for a little break down on how to make a new network on your Mac for iPhone 3G tethering.

“About 5 hours ago (Thursday evening, less than a week after the 3GS
launch), we were able to verify that the 24Kpwn exploit that the hybrid
team used on the iPod Touch 2G is still applicable to the bootrom of
the iPhone 3GS. That means we can use the same sort of technique used
by our current redsn0w tool to jailbreak and unlock the iPhone 3GS.” iPhone Dev – Team Blog

So apparently you can jailbreak and or unlock your iPhone 3.0 3Gs. Because some of the fundamental flaws that allow this crack still remain in the new phones.

Safari 4 Beta has been released today!! Really excited about that. Download it from the apple.com website today.

I noticed that my 1 Password is not turned on anymore. The user field and password fill button disappeared. Not to worry though… I will look into this and post a “how to enable 1 Password in Safari 4″

First try to Quit Safari 4 and restart again.. if that does not work,

How to enable 1password in the Safari 4 Beta:

1.Close Safari
2.Go to the /Applications/ folder
3.Right click on 1password.app, hit “Show Package Contents”
4.Navigate to /Contents/Resources/
5.Double click on SupportedBrowsers.plist. If you have Apple’s development tools installed, it’ll open in the Plist editor. If not, it’ll open in plaintext.
If you’re using the Plist editor, expand the “Safari” drop-down (Just click the little arrow beside Safari).

Look for the MaxBundleVersion key with a value of 5528.1 – change it to 5528.16. Save.
Open Safari

You can now use 1password via the right click menu in Safari Beta 4. If you want to add the 1password button to your toolbar, go to View > Customize Toolbar in Safari and drag it over.

Enjoy easy access to all of your junk!

You can also try to Quit Safari and Restart Safari 4 beta again!… That should work too!

Comments from bloggers and iPhone users alike are saying that their 1st generation iPhones are now iBricks.

It appears that the 7.7 update via iTunes is causing some errors that cause the iPhone to shutdown and no longer function as a phone. It appears to be problems caused by server overloads that were experienced on Friday.

A News.cnet.com reader says “Apple blames the problem on “network congestion on the iTunes server,”
but says you should be able to update or restore the firmware once the
traffic dies down.”

But some readers say that the updates may be working now!

If you have jailbroken your iPhone and you would like for it to work in the near future, I suggest that you do not update your iTunes version. This may brick your phone for good!

Nothing is more irritating than watching people that I know stumble through programs, applications, and general user interface features on a Mac OS X system. Sometimes they fumble away and insist on using useless movements that can be resolved with some quick and simple keyboard shortcuts.

Here are some easy ways to make your Mac experience a lot easier and more productive.

Take “Command” and “Control” of your Mac

Some of these key shortcuts are so easy and used by many but you would be surprised how many people do not know these “command key” shortcuts.

Everyday Shortcuts

1. Command + T = this shortcut allows you to easily create a new tab in your Firefox, Safari, even Opera Browser. This is very useful if you find yourself opening a new browser evertime you want to see a
new website

2. Command + Option Key + U – This will bring up a the source page of the site that you are currently looking at. This is commonly used by web masters for a quick look at the web page structure. This is an easy way to pick out HTML code that needs some fixing. So if you are a designer or just like to make sites. Try this one out and see how your code is looking without opening your FTP client(Forklift: Great Mac FTP Client with server side editing) or Dreamweaver.

Use this to look through your open apps

3. Control + Tab – Allows you to move between open tabs on your Firefox Browsers.
4. Command + F – This allows you to find any type of HTML text within the web page that you are viewing. Great way to find what you are looking for if you are to lazy to read the entire document. This Tool works in Firefox and Safari and also highlights the keyword you are looking for! (I like the look in Safari much better than Firefox.

5. Command + O - This opens your finder without you having to scroll your mouse all the way over to your dock and clicking on your finder icon.

6. Command “Q” – Have you ever wondered if their was an easier way to Quit your application that you are not using at the moment. Well here is the easiest way! Select whatever application that you are using by clicking in the frame of the application or just click the icon in your dock. Then simple use the Command “Q” shortcut and your application will instantly stop. But wait thats not it!

7. Command “H” – This short is useful if you are just tired of all the open windows on your desktop. Of course you can use spaces but then it gets confusing which space has the application that you are using…blah blah.. Command “H” hides the program that your are currently not using but want to keep running in the background. This is helpful for large memory hogging applications like Photoshop! You can just hide it rather than quit the app. So that in case you want to use it again later you don’t have to wait for the startup time again.

8. Command “Tab” – This shortcut brings up a nice looking dock of all the applications that are being used at that particular moment.

Have fun using these new shortcuts and stay tuned for more easy shortcuts that will help you work, play, and tweak your Mac experience!
